Facebook continues to grow at an historical rate. Whether we’re engaging with family online, checking status updates on our smartphones, or finding old friends, Facebook serves as a prominent web portal for communication.

Does your dental office have a Facebook fanpage? If not, it’s time to get one. To get started, simply visit:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php. Below, I will provide new and existing dental fanpage owners with various techniques for increasing fans. Hope you’ll “like” it!

Dental Fanpage Technique #1: Link up your blog or website

Your blog or website probably has dazzling pictures of your dental work. Or, maybe it has detailed information about your dental practice. Why not entice your web visitors to “like” your fanpage? To do so, simply add a link or Facebook button to your website. More information is available here:  https://developers.facebook.com/.

Dental Fanpage Technique #2: Connect with others and invite them to your fanpage

A great way to acquire more “likes” to your page is to invite friends. To do so, you’ll need to be an administrator of your fanpage. First, click on the “Build Audience” tab on the top of the page. Then, click “Invite Friends.” Here you can select the desired friends to invite to your fanpage! By building your friend base, you can also build your fan base!

Dental Fanpage Technique #3: Spread the word about your fanpage

Do you send newsletters or post cards to your patients? Do you advertise in local newspapers? Where is your web address seen? Your Facebook page URL (web address), where appropriate, should be added to what your patients see. You can also place flyers in your office.

Dental Fanpage Technique #4: Freebies, promotions and contests

One of the strongest ways to build your fanpage is to offer freebies, promotions and contests. An excellent resource and service for this is http://www.wildfireapp.com. By showcasing these offers, you have a better chance on making your content viral, resulting in more possible fans.

Dental Fanpage Technique #5:   Post more pictures on your timeline

Many studies show that pictures provide more engagement with fans. As people scroll down the newsfeed, a picture is more likely to attract their attention (especially if it is humorous or unique).  Would you “like” a picture of a hilarious smile? I know I would! Ask your fans to “like” and comment on your pictures as well as share their thoughts.

Dental Fanpage Technique #6: Remember…SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!

Facebook posts include a “Share” link so take full advantage of this! Tell your fans to share your content on their pages, with their friends, and so on.  It’s also important to have your fans “like” and “comment” on your posts. More interaction with your posts can certainly result in greater visibility.

Dental Fanpage Technique #7: Consider paying for Facebook ads

Facebook advertising can help grow your fanpage. Through Facebook’s advertising campaigns, you can set a budget along with many other options. You can also advertise your fanpage through these campaigns.

Thank you for reading this blog post on The Dental Geek!  I hope these techniques are beneficial for you.  Best of luck with increasing the “likes” to your fanpage!
